Rahul Sinha (born 20 October 1963) is an Indian politician associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He served as the President of the BJP's West Bengal unit from 2009 to 2015 and was appointed as a National Secretary of the party in 2015.[1]

Early life and education

Rahul Sinha was born in Kolkata, West Bengal. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Netaji Nagar College, obtained in 1982.[2]

Political career

Sinha began his political career with the BJP in West Bengal. He was appointed as the President of the BJP's West Bengal unit in 2009, a position he held until 2015. During his tenure, the party worked to expand its organizational presence in the state.[3]

In 2015, he was appointed as a National Secretary of the BJP.[4]

Elections contested

Sinha has contested multiple elections on behalf of the BJP. In the 2014 Indian general election, he contested from the Kolkata Uttar parliamentary seat and finished second.[5]

He contested the same seat again in the 2019 Indian general election and also placed second.[6]

He also stood as a candidate in the 2016 West Bengal Legislative Assembly election from the Jorasanko assembly constituency, where he received 36.77% of the vote and came second.[7]

Personal life

Rahul Sinha resides in Kolkata, West Bengal. According to his election affidavits, he has declared assets worth approximately ₹2.45 crore and liabilities of around ₹20.57 lakh.[8]
