Satyeswarananda Giri born 16 August 1941 – 3 September 2017 [1] Satyeswarananda Giri was a Indian monk yogi and guru born in Bengal, was instructed and trained in Kriya Yoga by the Swami Satyananda Giri (1896–1971) [2]. Satyeswarananda served his guru Satyananda for twenty years, completed an MA in Philosophy and got a bachelor's degree of law at the University of Calcutta. The degree allowed him to practice as a lawyer. His guru Satyananda was a disciple of Swami Sri Yukteswar Giri [3]and also served as the ashram swami at Sri Yuteswar's Puri Karar Ashram and as well for a long period as manager of the Ranchi School founded by a brother disciple Paramahansa Yogananda [4] who was the founder of Self Realization Fellowship in California USA. Satyeswarnanda had met Satyananda while attending Ranchi School where Satyananda was a manager and teacher. Satyeswarnanda after practicing law for some years, after his guru Satyananda had passed, he entered the Shankaracharya Swami order and began strict meditation retreats in northern India Himalayan regions. In 1982 he moved to San Diego, CA USA and began initiating and teaching Kriya Yoga as well as writing. He had authored many books on subjects related to spiritual topics, Yoga, Hinduism and biographies of those connected to his Kriya Yoga lineage. [5]
