[edit]Smile.io was launched in 2010 as Sweet Tooth Rewards, a loyalty app built for the Magento platform.[2] In 2014, the company expanded its integrations to Shopify and BigCommerce.[1] It rebranded as Smile.io in 2016 to reflect a broader market focus.[1]
By 2025, Smile.io supported over 100,000 active loyalty programs worldwide.[3] The company is cited in the Regional Municipality of Waterloo article as a contributor to the local technology economy.[4]
