Steve Jean is a Ugandan music producer, artist manager, and event organizer, celebrated for his transformative influence on the East African entertainment industry. As the founder of Fenon Records and Fenon Events, he has been instrumental in shaping Uganda’s music scene over the past two decades.
Early Life and Career
[edit]Steve Jean began his musical journey in the early 2000s. He first gained recognition as a producer and later expanded his influence by managing artists and organizing events. His keen ear for talent and innovative production techniques quickly set him apart in the industry.
Fenon Records and Artist Management
[edit]In 2004, Steve Jean founded Fenon Records, a Kampala-based music production company that has become a cornerstone of Uganda’s music industry. The label is credited with launching and nurturing the careers of several prominent artists, including:
- Blu*3: An all-girls music group comprising Cindy Sanyu, Jackie Chandiru, and Lillian Mbabazi. Steve Jean played a pivotal role in their formation and success.
- Steve Jean produced some of her biggest hits, such as Nabikowa and Kanyimbe. Juliana met Steve Jean at a karaoke bar, where he recognized her talent and offered her a recording opportunity.
- Together with Juliana, Iryn formed the duo I-Jay, which was also managed and produced by Steve Jean.
Beyond these artists, Steve Jean has been instrumental in the careers of others, including Lydia Jazmine, who refers to him as her "Guardian Angel" in the music industry.

- Location: Kololo Airstrip, Kampala
- Highlights: Fenon Events constructed a 102-meter-wide stage, accommodating over 800 performers, including the church's band and choir. This stage is recognized as the largest ever built for an event in Uganda, showcasing Fenon Events' capability in handling large-scale productions.[3]
2. Mbarara Walkers Tour(2022)[4]
In partnership with Johnnie Walker, Fenon events extended their reach beyond[5] Kampala by managing the Mbarara edition of the Walkers Tour at Agip Motel. Fenon provided full-scale production services, including stage setup, lighting, and sound, delivering an experience that matched their high standards

- Highlights: The concert featured an international-standard stage setup, with an elevated screen and dynamic lighting, enhancing the overall experience for attendees.[8]
4. Club Dome 6th Edition[9]
- Date: 2022
- Location: Lugogo Cricket Oval, Kampala
- Highlights: Fenon Events designed and executed a 40-meter-wide stage for this event, which featured international artists Adekunle Gold and Costa Titch, along with local acts. The production quality received widespread acclaim.[10]
