Draft:Thomas & Friends: The Movie
- Comment: Please excuse the rejected submission template. I submitted it before I realised that films had to be in production before they could get a Wikipedia article. This draft can still be expanded and later enter the mainspace. See AngusWOOF's comment below for more information. SleepDeprivedGinger (talk) 23:09, 13 November 2024 (UTC)

If you need help with referencing, please see Referencing for beginners and Citing sources. This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of films). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). Thomas & Friends: The Movie is an upcoming live-action animated film based on the Thomas & Friends media franchise and its television series of the same name, being developed by Mattel Films and directed by Marc Forster. It is set to be the second live-action and fully-theatrical Thomas & Friends film following Thomas and the Magic Railroad (2000) and the seventeenth film overall.
Production
[edit]Thomas has been a personal favorite of mine since childhood, I couldn't be more excited to be working with Robbie and the entire team at Mattel, and embarking on this beautiful journey with such a timeless property.
Marc Forster[1]
The film was announced in October of 2020, during the announcement of Thomas & Friends: All Engines Go, when it was revealed that Marc Forster would be partnering with Mattel Films to direct and produce a feature film based off of Thomas & Friends.[2][1] The film was also said to be a mix of CGI animation and live action with a four-quadrant format.[3] Robbie Brenner, the film's executive producer, has stated that Thomas' story in the film will be told in "a modern and unexpected way."[4] The film would later be included in Mattel's list of upcoming films and toy lines on their website, in which it was listed the under the title Thomas & Friends: The Movie.[5]
Writing
[edit]Alongside Forster's announcement, it was also confirmed that Alyssa Hill and Jesse Wigutow would be writing the film's screenplay,[4] the latter of whom is known for screenwriting Tron: Ares.[6]
