Tianna Guy is a professional boxer from Trinidad and Tobago, currently ranked as the #1 female boxer in the country, #12 in the world, and #1 in the Caribbean region. She made history as the first woman to represent Trinidad and Tobago in the sport of boxing at the Commonwealth Games. Guy has also achieved notable success in regional and international competitions, including winning a silver medal at the 2023 Continental Championships.
Amateur Boxing Career
[edit]Tianna Guy began her boxing career in 2017, making a successful debut by winning her first amateur match. These are her achievements:
- Caribbean Championships: Tianna won gold at the Caribbean Championships.
- Commonwealth Games (2022): She made history by becoming the first woman to represent Trinidad and Tobago in boxing at the Commonwealth Games.[3]
- AMBC Continental Championships (2023): Tianna secured a silver medal in the 60kg division and qualified for the Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile.[4]
- Copa Independence Cup (2024): Tianna won Silver at the Copa Independence Cup, defeating the reigning Central American and Caribbean Games Silver Medalist.[5][6]
- Felixx Stamm International (2024): Tianna earned another silver Medal at the Felixx Stamm International in Poland.[7]
- First Female to Flag Bear for the Pan American Games Opening Ceremony: Tianna was a flag bearer for the Santiago Pan American Games 2023.[8][9][10]
In 2023, Tianna Guy became the first boxer from Trinidad and Tobago to enter the IBA World Rankings and made history as the first female boxer to be ranked 9th in the IBA (International Boxing Association).[11]
