Introduction

Vestd is the UK’s first.[1] sharetech platform, having commenced business in 2014.

Vestd’s proprietary software enables businesses to share equity with team members, investors, consultants, etc. Vestd is the only platform of its kind to be FCA-regulated, B Corp-certified and ISO 27001-certified. Vestd is also fully integrated with Companies House[2].

Over the course of its history, Vestd has won many awards, including ‘The WSB Awards: ‘Share Scheme Provider of the Year[3]' and ‘Best Use of Technology in an Employee Share Scheme[4]’ at the ESOP Centre Awards.

History

Vestd’s founder and CEO, Ifty Nasir, is an established figure from the energy industry, having served as CEO for Essar Energy and as Vice President for BP[5].

In 2014, Nasir decided to start his own business in a bid to help startups[6] and SMEs. Nasir stated that:

“The idea came from research that I did into common business challenges. A great many of them, such as cash-flow, recruitment, retention, team alignment etc., can be solved with intelligent equity management. Basically, if you give somebody a slice of the pie, they’ll give you a greater level of commitment than somebody who is just being paid to do the job.

I wanted to make it as easy as possible for companies to get on board and start their share schemes[7].”

Along with cofounder Naveed Akram[8], Ifty launched Vestd as a remedy to poor equity management. Since incorporation, the platform has helped thousands of founders to more easily ‘slice their pies’[9].

Culture

In 2019, the company went fully remote[10]. This was ahead of (and not related to) Covid, making Vestd a company benefits trailblazer. Partially because of this, Vestd was recognised by Breathe HR in their 2021 awards, which placed Vestd in the top three of British businesses for company culture[11].

Product

The Vestd platform is used by companies to administer their share schemes and to manage their equity[12]. This includes cap table management, EMI (Enterprise Management Incentives), CSOPs, unapproved options, growth shares and more.

In 2024, Vestd launched ‘InVestd Raise’[13], a new suite aimed at startups heading towards funding rounds. InVestd Raise’s features and tools help companies to prepare, launch, manage and close funding rounds.

Expansion into India

In 2025, Vestd announced that it had partnered with Bangalore-based Trica Equity, to expand equity schemes in India[14].

After years of growth in Europe, Vestd’s platform was made available to Trica’s customer base[15], which includes many Indian ‘unicorns’[16].
