Voima is a survival sandbox game in development by Finnish solo video game developer Valtsu. Originally created using the C# programming language in the game engine Unity. The game began development in the summer of 2020. The game offers the ability to customise many aspects of the gameplay and features NPC bears that populate the area in the game and the player plays as a bear. The game has a very dreamy atmosphere to it and it takes most of its inspiration to the survival game Minecraft and the Finnish countryside. The name the game is Finnish for 'power' referencing how players have the power to do anything in the game[1].
The game is planned to be released as a Demo on the 3rd of March 2025[2] in the discord server for the game.
Gameplay
[edit]Voima is a 3D sandbox video game set in a fictional forest[3] inspired by the Finnish landscape[4] where anything (e.g. terrain) can be manipulated similar to the game Minecraft. The game features 2 modes, survival mode is where the player controls a bear and can walk around, jump and even climb walls/trees. They also have the ability to place blocks and modify them with obtainable tools. Sandbox mode is where everything in the game can be edited without any limitations in a simulation[1] style. In both modes, the game is seen from the first-person perspective and the player can place a small variety of blocks. These blocks can also be modified using various tools from the player's hotbar and inventory which can be obtained around the map[1]. Such tools include scissors which can trim blocks to make them shorter or thinner[5]. There are multiple worlds which can be created (such a winter biome world). The worlds can either be accessed by the world selection menu or through portals that can be placed in other worlds.
