Elachista coniophora is a moth of the family Elachistidae. It is found in California, United States.[1][2][3] The length of the forewings is 4.5-5.5 mm.[1]

Taxonomy and Classification

  • Elachista coniophora* was first described by Annette Frances Braun in 1948. The type locality is San Diego, California, USA. The holotype specimen is housed in the United States National Museum. This species belongs to the subgenus *Aphelosetia* and is part of the *argentella* group within the genus *Elachista*. [4][1]

Distribution

While *Elachista coniophora* is primarily found in California, United States, there has been at least one observation recorded in Montana. [5]

Identification

The species can be identified by its forewing length, which ranges from 4.5 to 5.5 mm.[1]
