Geoffrey Toroitich (born 2000) is a Kenyan long-distance runner specializing in the marathon and half marathon. Known for his sub-60-minute half marathon and top-6 finish at a World Marathon Major, Toroitich has quickly emerged as one of the world’s leading road runners. His standout performances — including a 59:13 half marathon and a 2:05:46 marathon — have cemented his place among the global elite.
Career
[edit]Toroitich first made his mark on the international road running scene in 2023, rapidly establishing himself as one of the sport’s rising global distance stars. In October of that year, he ran a personal best of 59:13 to win the Malaga Half Marathon, one of the fastest times recorded globally that season.[1][2][3]
Later that year, he added another victory by winning the inaugural Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge Half Marathon in 1:01:38.[4] Continuing to demonstrate consistency at the elite level, Toroitich successfully defended his Málaga Half Marathon title in 2024 with a time of 1:00:13.[2][3]
In 2025, Toroitich transitioned to the marathon with immediate success. He placed sixth at the 2025 Tokyo Marathon, a World Marathon Major, setting a personal best of 2:05:46.[1][5][6] His performance at such a prestigious event further solidified his reputation as an emerging contender on the global marathon stage.[1]
