Glen Cove is an unincorporated community in Coleman County, Texas, United States.[1] According to the Handbook of Texas, the community had a population of 40 in 2000.
History
[edit]The area in what is known as Glen Cove today was named for a rancher named Glen who drove cattle to the area from Waco for grazing in the winter. It remained a small farming community with 75 residents served by a church and three businesses in 1940. The population went down to 40 from 1980 through 2000.[2]
Geography
[edit]Glen Cove is located on Farm to Market Road 53 on Hords Creek in west-central Coleman County.[2] It is also on Farm to Market Road 2805.
Climate
[edit]The climate in this area is characterized by hot, humid summers and generally mild to cool winters. According to the Köppen climate classification system, Glen Cove has a humid subtropical climate, abbreviated Cfa on climate maps.[3]
Education
[edit]Today, Glen Cove is served by the Panther Creek Consolidated Independent School District.
