Early life and education

[edit]

Respicio completed his Bachelor of Science in Accountancy at De La Salle University, where he earned his certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). He later pursued a Juris Doctor degree at Ateneo de Manila University.[1]

[edit]

Respicio is a partner at Respicio & Co. Law Firm, a prominent legal practice in the Philippines. The firm specializes in corporate law, taxation, labor law, and election law. Respicio's work has earned him a reputation for his expertise in navigating complex legal and financial matters.[2]

Political career

[edit]

Respicio ran for vice mayor in Reina Mercedes, Isabela during the 2025 elections. His campaign was marked by controversy after he claimed in a series of videos that he could manipulate vote-counting machines (VCMs) to alter election results. These claims prompted the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) to file a cybercrime complaint against him, alleging that his statements undermined public trust in the electoral process.[3][4]

[edit]

The COMELEC accused Respicio of violating the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 and other election-related laws. The commission emphasized that his claims were baseless and aimed at destabilizing the integrity of the electoral process.[5]

Advocacy on vote-counting machines

[edit]

Respicio has been vocal about his concerns regarding the use of VCMs in elections. He has called for stricter regulations to ensure the transparency and security of the voting process. In March 2025, he urged the COMELEC to keep VCMs offline until the transmission of election results to prevent potential manipulation.[6]
