Israel's Security Cabinet has made a plan to "occupy and flatten Gaza". The plan calls for the Israel Defense Forces to flatten any buildings that remain standing in Gaza.[1][2] The plan is still in operation as of May 2025.[3][4] The plan has been criticized for its humanitarian impact, which some allege to be genocidal and ethnic cleansing.[5]
