Ivy Wolk (born August 24, 2004) is an American actress and comedian. She played Crystal in Sean Baker's film Anora (2024).

Career

[edit]

Ivy Wolk was born on August 24, 2004, and raised in Los Angeles.[1][2] At the age of 14, she began posting comedic videos on TikTok and amassed more than 200,000 followers. She deactivated her account when she was cast in her first professional role in 2019: She played Tellulah, Genevieve (Maeve Press)'s troublemaking friend, on the Freeform comedy series Everything's Gonna Be Okay.[2][3][4] Wolk later deleted a new TikTok account after getting flak for past offensive tweets of hers, leading her to be described by writer Honor Levy as the "youngest actress ever to be cancelled".[2][5] While finishing high school, she played a small role in Judd Apatow's The Bubble (2022).[2]

Wolk dropped out of Emerson College after shooting the film Anora at the start of 2023. She had begun corresponding with its director, Sean Baker, in high school and was invited by him to audition. Anora won the Palme d'Or on its premiere at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival; Wolk plays Crystal, a teenager whose rich friend (Mark Eidelstein) hires a sex worker (Mikey Madison) to be his girlfriend.[2][6] She appeared later that year on the FX series English Teacher as Chelsea, the best friend of Kayla (Romy Mars).[6][7]

Wolk is set to appear in Mary Bronstein's If I Had Legs I'd Kick You, Eugene Kotlyarenko's The Code, and Jonah Hill's Outcome.[6]

Public image

[edit]

Wolk maintains an active Twitter account on which she often draws controversy for her edgy posts.[2][5] Her acting roles have mirrored her social media personality as she plays transgressive young people.[5] Wolk is known for her dark eyebrows and bangs hairstyle, which she cuts herself.[5][6]

Personal life

[edit]

Wolk moved to Brooklyn after shooting Anora.[2][3] She is bisexual.[8]
