Joseph Robert Birrell (11 March 1930 – 19 November 2024) was a British hurdler. He competed in the men's 110 metres hurdles at the 1948 Summer Olympics.[1]
Biography
[edit]Birrell was born in Cockermouth, England on 11 March 1930. He took part in the Olympics when aged 18. Birrell completed his national service in the army until 1950. He went to Loughborough College in September 1950.[2]
Birrell died on 19 November 2024, at the age of 94. He was survived by his wife, Marjory, and their three daughters.[3]
