Joe Paul James Robertson[1] is a British Conservative Party politician who has served as the Member of Parliament for the Isle of Wight East constituency since 2024.[2]

Early life and education

Joe Robertson grew up on the Isle of Wight and was educated at Ryde School,[3] a private boarding and day school in Ryde.[4] He read Geography at UCL between 2003–2006. Between 2008–2010 he studied at BPP University Law School,[3] before being called to the Bar by Middle Temple in 2010.[5]

Political career

Robertson was elected to Isle of Wight Council in 2021. He served as the Conservative group leader between 2021[6] and 2023.[7]

He was selected as the Conservative parliamentary candidate in June 2023 for the newly created Isle of Wight East constituency[8] as part of the 2023 periodic review of Westminster constituencies.

In the 2024 general election Robertson was elected to Parliament as MP for Isle of Wight East with 30.6% of the vote and a majority of 3,323.[9]

Personal life

Robertson grew up on the Island and went to school in Ryde.[10] He is a qualified family solicitor and worked for Dementia UK as a legal and governance advisor.[11]

Robertson lives in St Helens and is married with two children.[12][13]
