Kraidej Luelert (Thai: ไกรเดช ลือเลิศ), known as Kasalong (Thai: กาสะลอง), was a Thai anti-monarchy activist and exile based in Laos.[1][2]

An aide to republican activist Surachai Danwattananusorn, Kraidej was suspected to be a victim of forced disappearance in December 2018.[3][4]

Activism and exile

[edit]

Kraidej was a member of Red Siam, a republican faction of the Red Shirts political movement.[1][5] He fled Thailand after the 2014 Thai military coup, settling in Laos with Surachai Danwattananusorn and Chatcharn Buppawan.[5]

Disappearance and death

[edit]

On 27 December 2018, Kraidej's mutilated body was found in the Mekong River in Nakhon Phanom province, Thailand.[5] His body was later found a day after that of fellow activist Chatcharn Buppawan.[6][7]
