Yurt-Aukh Mosque (Ширча-Йуртар маьждиг, Юрт-Ауховская мечеть ) is the oldest mosque in the village of Kalininaul (Yurt-Aukh) in the Kazbekovsky District. Founded by local residents in 1904, it is an architectural monument of Aukh.
History
[edit]The current Chechen mosque in the old part of the village Yurt-Aukh, is known as an architectural monument of the 20th century[1]. According to local historians, it was erected on the site of an old dilapidated adobe mosque. The expediency of its reconstruction arose due to the growth of the village's population, when the old mosque could no longer accommodate all the believers, so the construction of a new building turned out to be necessary to renovate the old building.
Under the agreement, local residents hired craftsmen. The brick blocks were made from large sandstones brought in horse-drawn carts from the foothills of Mount Gebek-Kale. The stones were brought one at a time and polished on site. Lime mortar was used as a solution to bind the blocks-stones. A special mixture of yolks was added to it, which greatly increased the bonding of the solution microparticles, giving the building the strength of a monolith.
The Yurt-Aukhovskaya mosque was built in the direction of the Kaaba, the Muslim holy site. The corners of the mosque are oriented to the cardinal points. A minaret faced with white brick for performing the adhan rises above the mosque, the upper floor is decorated with arched windows, crowned with a silver dome and a spire with an image of a crescent.

In honor of the villagers who made the most significant contribution to the construction of the mosque, name blocks were processed. On the blocks, painted with various patterns, these names are carved using the Arabic alphabet.
The mosque has two stepped main entrances. Above one of them are carved a horse and a man killing a snake with a sabre, and on the arch of the second entrance is depicted the Star of David and the image of a lion.[2]
