Nile News (Arabic: النيل للأخبار) is an Arabic-language television news channel. Launched on October 6, 1998, the channel is based in Cairo, Egypt, and is partly owned by the Egyptian television. Being owned by the government has caused the channel to fall under its influence, and lacking freedom of expression, unlike other networks such as Al-Jazeera.[1]
At launch, it used the Nilesat 101 satellite to deliver its signals, alongside the other specialized Nile-branded channels.[2]
In 2018, Amira Salem became the channel's president; she succeeded Amr Al-Shennawi.[3]
