Panayiotis Kanelos is an American academic administrator who is the founding president of the University of Austin. From 2017 to 2021, he was the 24th president of St. John's College, Annapolis.[1][2]

Kanelos was born in a Greek-American family and was the first in his family to attend college.[3] He earned a B.A. in English from Northwestern University, an M.A. in Political Philosophy and Literature from Boston University, and a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago. He was a postdoctoral fellow at Stanford University.[4][5]
