Preparation for the Next Life is a 2014 work of fiction by American author Atticus Lish.[1] It won the 2015 PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction,[2] and the 2016 Grand Prix de Littérature Américaine.[3]

According to Book Marks, the book received a "rave" consensus, based on twelve critic reviews: nine "rave", one "positive", and one "mixed".[4][5] The Bookseller reported on reviews from several publications with a rating scale for the novel out of "Top form", "Flawed but worth a read", and "Disappointing": Guardian review under "Top form" and Sunday Times review under "Flawed but worth a read".[6]
