Stephane Kasriel (born in Paris, France) is an entrepreneur, innovator, tech executive and current CEO of Upwork, the world's largest freelancing website (formerly Elance-oDesk).[1]

Education and career

Kasriel received a MBA from INSEAD, a Masters in Computer Science from Stanford University and a Bachelors in Mathematics and Computer Science from École Polytechnique.[2][better source needed]

He is a former executive at PayPal, Work4 and Zong.[2] He also co-founded two companies, Fireclick and iFeelGoods, and holds 15 patents for web-related technologies.[3][better source needed]

Kasriel joined Upwork in June 2012 as Vice President of Product & Engineering. As VP and later SVP of Product & Engineering where he led a team of more than 300 engineers, designers, and programmers.[4]

On April 20, 2015, Kasriel was appointed CEO and led the company through its rebrand to Upwork and the launch of a new freelance platform by the same name.[4][5]

Kasriel is currently Co-Chair of the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council on Education, Gender and Work.[6][7]
