AAGL → American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists – From the website "In 1971, Dr. Jordan M. Phillips and ten charter members founded the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists. ... Today we are known universally by our acronym, “AAGL,” and we’ve evolved to epitomize our motto of “Elevating Gynecologic Surgery.”" Meaning that AAGL is an acronym, not the actual name of the association.
