Move most of the content to Mites?
[edit]Most of the content of this topic only refers to mites, and not to Acarina as a whole.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Dr Shorthair (talk • contribs) 05:21, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
Subordo taxes
[edit]If ever suborders grow into large articles to split back, here are the taxoboxes (They are in histories as well, but here new people will see them better). `'mikka (t) 23:42, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
I've modified these to correct some incorrect ranks (i.e. Superfamilies) and to reflect more recent taxonomic schemes. DEW 5 November 2006

- It seems that they have to be treated as superorders (and I have changed it to that). The diversity of Acariformes is too large to deal with it sensibly the other way (see Oribatida which would be hell in a handbasket if treated as an order). Be aware that superfamily down one is in ICZN-land, making adjustments everything but easy foor one thing, and restricting the number of available ranks for another. With the taxobox format we have (no 2 directly consecutive "unranked" taxa) it is simply impossible to do it consistently here. Dysmorodrepanis (talk) 17:00, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
Reproduction?
[edit]Do males and females typically look alike and have the same lifestyle? How does the male fertilize the female? I'm especially interested in the reproduction of the Demodex mites living in our skin. AxelBoldt 03:38, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
I don't know.--Rory666 08:52, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
