Spelling
[edit]Why is this article's title Aglaea rather than Aglaia or Aglaïa? The spelling Aglaia is more common in both American and British English. Yes, there is a tree species Aglaia, but that's no reason not to use the common spelling here. Then we'd have Aglaia (grace), Aglaia (genus) (although I think Aglaia (tree) would be better), Aglaia (given name), etc. --Macrakis (talk) 14:26, 12 February 2025 (UTC)
- I wouldn't say I have any strong feelings on "Aglaia" vs "Aglaea" here, though "Grace" should be capitalised in the proposed title (ie., "Aglaia (Grace)"). – Michael Aurel (talk) 08:27, 13 February 2025 (UTC)
- When you try to filter out non-mythological usage you get an entirely different picture. Paul August ☎ 14:06, 13 February 2025 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, Google nGrams has no way of filtering: the "+" operator simply adds the frequency of the two terms, it is not an AND. So I don't think those graphs give us any helpful insights. You might think that you could search on Google Books and look at the number of results, but the number of results is not a reliable indicator unless there are very very few. --Macrakis (talk) 15:18, 13 February 2025 (UTC)
