Possible renaming
[edit]- The following discussion is an archived discussion of the proposal. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.
I have cleaned up this article a bit, but it needs a lot more work - and more sources. I also think the name of the article is inappropriate and propose that it be moved. "Sex scandal" implies to me some sort of lurid tabloid story rather than the very serious case of rape and blackmail described in the piece. Not sure about a new name, though. Any suggestions? -- TinaSparkle 10:52, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
- The only name I could find in the sources is "Ajmer sex and photo blackmail racket". Is that any improvement? --Stemonitis 18:33, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
- Well the element that stands out the most for me is the rape element. What about substituting that word for sex to make the article Ajmer rape scandal? I don't think that would be POV-oriented and it would fulfill WP:PRECISION better then the current title. A very vague and generic option would Ajmer incident. 205.157.110.11 05:30, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
- How about Ajmer rape trials? Joeldl 07:36, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
- "Ajmer sex scandal" is also in the third source listed. We shouldn't be inventing a name for this; we should be calling it what the sources do, so our readers can find it. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 04:48, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

It was requested that this article be renamed but there was no consensus for it be moved. --Stemonitis 11:10, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
Where did it take place?
[edit]The article said that this incident took place at the Dargah of Ajmer, however it is not mentioned anywhere in the news paper article given as a reference. The article also does not mention any Chishty Farm House. I have thus deleted the line about where the incident took place. 103.240.193.48 (talk) 08:58, 14 April 2014 (UTC)
Hindu Girls
[edit]As I was looking all over internet I could not find that it was rapes of Hindus only or including them kindly provide source I you can. Even though the chesti(a Muslim) was involved and Muslims were the rapist, no mention of victims to be Hindu only is present. Kindly improve this page. I take my objections back RashmikantT (talk) 09:27, 3 September 2022 (UTC)
"This was a big concern back then — how to not communalise the matter as the main accused were Muslims and the majority of the victims were Hindus"

Lead section has extra information
[edit]I have tagged this article for clean-up because the lead section has extra information that is not mentioned elsewhere in the article. See MOS:LEAD for purpose of the lead. It should provide an accessible overview to the whole article. It is not like a journalistic lede because Wikipedia articles are not news. Information in the lead should be expanded upon in the body of the article too. See WP:LEADFOLLOWSBODY - Cameron Dewe (talk) 00:14, 26 April 2025 (UTC)
