Update with reference

[edit]

I updated the article to reflect a very recent publication by Anton Zeilinger. ( http://arxiv.org/abs/0803.1871v1 ) Since this is the first time I actively add a reference to a wikipedia article, please let me know if anything in the syntax is wrong with it. Apparently, among people who mistakenly believe quantum mechanics magically has something to do with consciousness (as opposed to just any interaction or encounter being the quote-on-quote "observation" that collapses/decoheres the wave function), and by the way this alleged consciousness connection is a common misinterpretation in books aimed at laymen (non-scientists), there is also a mistaken belief that Zeilinger's work proves Kantian idealism. Given that Wikipedia is meant to be educational, should we correct this mistake at some point in the Article, perhaps clarifying how the word "realism" means different things in quantum physics than it does in philosophy? Hmmm, first of all I think you need to provide some evidence of this, especially the reference to Idealism, and then read Jack Sarfatti and consider that Copenhagen is not the only valid point of view for QM. Keithbowden (talk) 12:28, 4 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

In 2021, a photo of Anton Zeilinger with the file name "Anton Zeilinger with painting by Anna Zeilinger.jpg" was mistakenly made available under a free license on Wikimedia Commons via the English Wikipedia article on Anton Zeilinger. This image was removed due to copyright claims made by the copyright owner. If this image has been used by any other media outside of Wikipedia, it is recommended to be removed due to copyright infringement and the risk of legal proceedings by the copyright owner. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Öawpr (talkcontribs) 10:27, 6 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Low quality references here.

[edit]

I just looked a few examples but the article has numerous inappropriate references like:

  • Ranked as a "highly cited paper" by Thomson Reuters' Web of Science, placing it in the 1% of the academic field of physics based on a highly cited threshold for the field and publication year.

Such a claim is not verifiable. The claim needs a full citation that someone can follow and check.

Probably worse, there are lots of claims of "first" or "opening a field" and so on. But these claims are not substantiated with secondary references. They should all be removed without such documentation. Please see WP:PRIMARY. The article is analyzing rather than reporting. Johnjbarton (talk) 21:42, 8 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Oh wow, over 50 of the citations here are to this persons self-published Curriculum Vitae!
Is this ok? WP:BLPSELFPUB Johnjbarton (talk) 15:53, 19 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
