Notability - for ease of demonstration

[edit]

As a fairly marginal AfC case in terms of notability provided in-article, I suspect it is probably worthwhile indicating the more reliable Sig Cov sources. Given their substantiveness, I suspect there are probably additional worthwhile sources that could be sought out.

COI edit requests

[edit]

Hello, my contributions are made on behalf and in consultation with Appian. Due to my COI, I won’t be editing the article directly, and I’d like to request some edits to this page:

Intro

[edit]
  • In the first sentence, replacing Tysons with McLean[1]
  • Adding this sentence to the end of the second paragraph: Its Low-Code Automation Platform enables businesses to create apps using little or no code.[2][3]

History

[edit]
  • After the first sentence, add: Matt Calkins is the CEO.[1]
  • After the 2004 line, add: In 2010, Appian Cloud was accredited with Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) low-level security by the U.S. Education Department. In 2013, it received FISMA Moderate Authorization and Accreditation from the General Services Administration (GSA). GSA procurement offices used Appian Cloud for acquisition planning.[4]
  • After 2018 line, add: In May 2019, Appian released Appian AI to allow customers to implement artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities in any application built on Appian’s platform.[5]

Again, because of my COI, I won't be adding these changes myself. If it helps, I'm also happy to put together these suggested edits in sandbox to make it easier. Thank you! JMGAppian (talk) 00:31, 24 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@PainProf: Thank you so much for your help! JMGAppian (talk) 20:20, 22 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

New COI Edit Requests

[edit]

Update

[edit]

The original edit requests below have been implemented (very much appreciate all of the help!), but I'm leaving the edit request tag open to help address some minor formatting issues as a result of the those implemented edits. See thread at the bottom for the original request.

History

[edit]
  • Remove the duplicate "In 2018" from "In 2018, In 2018, Appian moved its headquarters to Tysons, Virginia."
  • In the last paragraph, replace the following:

In March, the company launched a health management app to help other businesses track workforce health and safety during the COVID-19 pandemic, by collecting information from employees and storing it in a HIPAA-compliant cloud.[6]hat app is called COVID-19 Response Management.[7][8]

with:

In March, the company updated its platform’s AI and robotic process automation (RPA) capabilities.[9] Later in 2020, Appian launched four apps to help businesses with COVID-19-related issues.[10] The first was a health management app to help other businesses track workforce health and safety during the COVID-19 pandemic, by collecting information from employees and storing it in a HIPAA-compliant cloud.[11] That app is called COVID-19 Response Management.[7][12]

Additional Requests

[edit]
  • It would be great to add the company logo to this article. Here is a link to the logo: [1], available from [2]
  • There is a page flag dating from 2018 regarding additional citations needed. The article currently has 31 references, all of which are independent, 3rd party, reliable sources. I'd like to propose that the page be reviewed and the flag removed if another editor agrees that it no longer needs additional verification.

Thank you! JMGAppian (talk) 22:21, 19 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Original request:

[edit]

Hello, as stated before, my contributions are made on behalf and in consultation with Appian. Due to my COI, I won’t be editing the article directly, and I’d like to request some edits to this page:

History

[edit]
  • In the first paragraph, adding the following after "Matt Calkins is the CEO" Calkins graduated from Dartmouth in 1994 with a degree in economics and then joined MicroStrategy, a business software vendor.[13] He became the company’s youngest director when he was named the director of the Enterprise Product Group.[14][15] When he was 26, he left MicroStrategy and co-founded Appian.[14]
  • Adding this to the end of the "In 2014, Appian received $37.5 million" sentence: which was paid out to shareholders.[16]
  • After the "In 2014, Appian received" paragraph, adding: In 2015, Ryder began using apps built by Appian to switch to paperless processing. The apps are used by customers during the checkout process and internally for truck maintenance records.[17][18]
  • Replacing In 2018, Appian announced it will move its headquarters with In 2018, Appian moved its headquarters
  • In the last paragraph, the following updates:
    • Change In March, the company launched a health management app to In March, the company updated its platform’s AI and robotic process automation (RPA) capabilities.[19] Later in 2020, Appian launched four apps to help businesses with COVID-19-related issues.[10] The first was a health management app
    • Add to the end of the paragraph: That app is called COVID-19 Response Management.[7][20] A second app, Workforce Safety, was designed to help organizations reopen their offices.[7] The third helps banks accept and manage Paycheck Protection Program loan applications.[10] That app includes AI-powered intelligent document processing.[10] The fourth app, CampusPass, helps educational campuses collect COVID-19 related data about individuals and coordinate health and safety guidelines across academic communities.[21][22] The app was created in partnership with the University of South Florida to help plan for students returning to campus during the 2020 pandemic.[23]

@PainProf: I'm pinging you because you implemented the last suggested edits.

Again, because of my COI, I won't be adding these changes myself. If it helps, I'm also happy to put together these suggested edits in sandbox to make it easier. Thank you! JMGAppian (talk) 00:31, 24 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

COI edit requests

[edit]

Hello, my contributions are made on behalf and in consultation with Appian. Due to my COI, I won’t be editing the article directly, and I’d like to request the following edits to this page. For ease of implementation, I've mocked up the existing page with the requested changes below in my sandbox.

Extended content

Suggested changes to the page:

Additional Citations flag
  • The page flag no longer appears to be relevant, so this looks like it can be removed. I appreciate any feedback here.

Not done I think this flag is still necessary. There is lots of promotional language throughout the article and it will take an extensive rewrite to remove. Also, Forbes contributors are used as sources in numerous statements, which are not considered reliable per WP:FORBESCON. Z1720 (talk) 16:35, 14 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

History section
  • Add the following information to the end of the existing History section:

Appian saw an increase in adoption of its low-code automation platform during the pandemic as organizations looked for ways to quickly respond to the situation. One U.S. healthcare provider built an app in one day which was used by doctors to submit Coronavirus patients for treatment.[24]

Not done Forbes contributors are not considered reliable sources, per WP:FORBESCON. Z1720 (talk) 16:35, 14 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

New Services Section

Add the following new section to the page:

Services

[edit]

Low-code automation platform

[edit]

Appian offers a low-code automation platform with a visual interface and pre-built development modules.[25] As of August 2020, Appian was the only pure-play provider of low-code software.[26] Companies can use the platform to reduce the time it takes to build, deploy, and update applications with the help of AI tools and bots.[10][25] The platform protects privacy and security with its HIPAA-compliant cloud.[27]

The platform includes:

  • Appian AI: Appian’s artificial intelligence technology is a core part of its platform and enables developers to build AI-capabilities into all apps.[28][29] The platform also offers Intelligent Document Processing (IDP). These technologies are supported in part by a partnership with Google Cloud.[28]
  • Appian RPA: robotic process automation was added to the platform after Appian acquired Novaryre Solutions SL in January 2020.[30] The RPA offering provides full-stack automation, case management, and governance.[31][32] It runs on Appian Cloud for security and scalability.[31]

Partly done This section reads as WP:PROMOTION of their services. I removed the sentence in the paragraph with the Forbes Contributor source because WP:FORBESCON and removed the list as these are not notable features. Z1720 (talk) 16:35, 14 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Frameworks

[edit]

Appian offers several pre-built frameworks, including:

  • Workforce Safety and Readiness app: the app provides workplaces with a central command center, workforce screening, and quick issue resolution. It was designed to help businesses safely reopen their offices during crises such as COVID-19.[10]
  • CampusPass: helps educational campuses collect COVID-19 related data about individuals and coordinate health and safety guidelines across academic communities.[33][34]
  • Appian Institutional Onboarding for Financial Services: provides pre-built data records, AI-based document understanding, and packaged integrations to help institutions simplify onboarding.[35]
  • Requirements Management Solution: for use by government organizations to manage the acquisition process.[36]
  • Appian Intelligent Document Processing: this combines Appian AI with Google Cloud services to provide smart processing of unstructured documents.[28]
  • Lkd gd. 99.248.154.87 (talk) 16:37, 8 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Not done I have removed this section from the article. This information is promotional and not notable. Some of this information might be added to the article a brief mentions of their products. Z1720 (talk) 16:35, 14 November 2020 (UTC) Disagree with this one - frameworks is useful to us coders 76.89.86.155 (talk) 15:59, 18 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I have reformatted the information to read as less promotional. I have removed the Financial Services information because the link is not a WP:RS (there is no Wikipedia article on AiThority and when I tried to access the website I received a security warning). Although frameworks are useful to coders, Wikipedia is not here to promote services. Z1720 (talk) 17:00, 18 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Infobox update
  • Please remove the typo in the Number of Locations: "...."
Not done Can you be more specific of what the typo is? You can open another request edit ticket when you identify this. Z1720 (talk) 16:35, 14 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I appreciate the time, effort, and feedback I can get on this. Thank you! JMGAppian (talk) 19:28, 28 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @JMGAppian:. Thank you for using this template and waiting patiently. You stated that these edits are in consultation with Appian. Are you being paid to edit Wikipedia on their behalf? If so, you need to make this explicit in your declarations, including your user page and this talk page. Please see Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure for more information.
Although 99.248.154.87 added the information, I also reviewed the edits and decided to revert the changes. I have added notes under each section to explain my rationale. I have also added your name to the top of this page regarding your COI. Please respond below if you have any questions or concerns. Happy editing! Z1720 (talk) 16:35, 14 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Z1720: thank you for taking the time to review these edit requests. These requests had already been addressed, but it looks like the request tag wasn't closed which likely led to some confusion, so I apologize for that. I've updated my disclosure to clarify that I am being paid on both my user page and in my talk page disclosures moving forward, appreciate you pointing that out. I had been working on suggested edits to address the Cleanup tag and incorporated your suggestions for the Services section in those edits. If you're curious to review, I've linked the mocked up draft in the section below (COI edit requests, addressing the page flag). Again, I appreciate you taking the time to review this! JMGAppian (talk) 15:22, 19 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi JMGAppian, I appreciate the thanks. I suggest adding a request edit template at the top of your message below so that users are more likely to find and review your work. Happy editing! Z1720 (talk) 16:54, 19 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

COI edit requests, addressing the page flag

[edit]

Hello, my contributions are paid and made on behalf of and in direct consultation with Appian Corporation. Due to my COI, I won’t be editing the article directly.

I've put together suggested edits for the page to address the recent {{Cleanup-PR}} flag added by @DGG: and also incorporate the changes from @Z1720: during their recent review of the Services section. DGG had provided a helpful breakdown for why the flag was added on their talk page, here.

I've mocked up the changes in my sandbox and made edits from the previous version of the page so it's easier to see the edit diffs. If these changes look good, please feel free to copy directly from the sandbox version. I'm happy to discuss anything that may still be of concern. And again, I appreciate you taking the time to review and implement edit requests. Thank you! JMGAppian (talk) 15:15, 19 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Addressing recent edits

[edit]

Added back some of the information removed by 2620:8d:8000:1028:3926:25a5:f03c:eebd. Framworks section seems fine, just need to adjust title to match the section. Sources seem to use "solutions" but sounds like a buzzwrd. Add back CEO info, has received good amt of coverage to include and is owner of almost half the shares. Fixed alphebetical order of founders based on last name which is standard. Addt'l source for Ryder info not a lack of covrage. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.72.236.60 (talk) 16:53, 19 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

revision

[edit]

You asked me to review the Appian article. I have incorporated most of your changes, and made some edits for compactness. There still seemsto be considerable duplication of referneces; I will get oti t when I can. After I do, I'll probably remove the banner. There are 3 remaining problems--how much about the CEO to incorporate, if he does not get his separate article (which I am not going to judge or review),--whether the Ryder contract is significant-- and whether to describe the firm as engaged in Enterprise software and cloud computing software. I think it's important to keep enterprise in somewhere to describe the business level being aimed at. For attribution purposes, it is necessary for you to retain your draft page. DGG ( talk ) 07:00, 24 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I was asked on my Talk Page to review. Appreciate the recognition and ping and made some edits. I'll do a few more. Not ready yet to remove that banner, but getting close. --FeldBum (talk) 15:42, 15 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

COI edit request

[edit]

Hello, my contributions are made on behalf and in consultation with Appian. Due to my COI, I won’t be editing the article directly, and I’d like to request the following edits to this page.

I'd like to request a review of this article by an uninvolved editor to assess whether the {{Cleanup-PR}} flag is still necessary on this article. The article has been significantly cleaned up since the flag's placement in October 2020. All of the changes since the flag's placement can be viewed here. If there are any additional concerns related to the {{Cleanup-PR}} flag, I'm happy to help draft up suggestions if that's helpful. Thank you! JMGAppian (talk) 20:08, 24 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
