Citations
[edit]I really think you should cite that Jane's Addiction and Flaming Lips bit. Who has compared his vocals to them? You? A credited music critic? It seems unprofessional not to cite it. King Bee 13:19, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
- Why are citations "needed" for the statements in the introduction that draw comparisons to MMJ? Would you need to cite someone else's work if comparing the blue of the sky to the blue of the ocean. I think these are observable facts that do not require citation. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.196.72.66 (talk) 23:43, 19 May 2009 (UTC)
- Citations are needed because this is an encyclopaedia. A Google search on April 7, 2010 revealed that almost all websites that cite a link between BoH and MMJ refer directly to the BoH wiki article and nowhere else, thus perpetuating an unsubstantiated claim. Band of Horses songs in Film / TV / Adverts / Games etc
[edit]"The band's song "The Funeral" appeared in television advertisements for SUVs;"
- Any others besides the Ford Edge? JDS2005 (talk) 23:39, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
- The Funeral and Is There a Ghost were used in Guy Mariano's part in the most anticipated video in 2007 by skateboarding: Lakai: Fully Flared. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.130.138.131 (talk) 02:41, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
- Lets put info about this sort of thing in the wiki page for the specific album (or specific song in the case of "The Funeral") and keep it off the main BoH page. Iangurteen (talk) 07:23, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
New images available
[edit]A number of new images have become available at Commons:Category:Band of Horses. I am not familiar with the article so, I'd be happy if someone took a look and add images they find suitable to the it. Thanks, Quibik (talk) 20:12, 24 December 2009 (UTC)
Genre
[edit]Just throwing this out here, having gone to a Band of Horses concert two days ago, I would describe their sound best as progressive country. It had a lot of Southern bluegrass and whatnot with the orchestral violin and a much stronger sense of theme than alt would take. —Preceding unsigned comment added by PotatoSamurai (talk • contribs) 09:52, 5 January 2010 (UTC)
- OK, indie rock & southern rock sounds fine...does it really matter? Let's expand the article with new info rather than worrying about genre! Iangurteen (talk) 08:54, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
Line up
[edit]Does anyone know when and why Rob Hampton left or when Blake Mills played with the band? Iangurteen (talk) 10:47, 22 April 2010 (UTC)
- While I think about it, BoH are using a "6th member" (on guitar) for a few songs in each show (He appeared on "Later..." for Factory) and acts as roadie too - who is he?? Iangurteen (talk) 12:08, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
German Albums Chart
[edit]This chart seems to have no online archive that I can find, so it's hard to include it in the article. I believe that 2 Band of Horses albums may have charted. Can anyone help with an online archive that will show BOH German chart stats. Iangurteen (talk) 07:20, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- Now sorted. That one week at number 88 will be recorded for posterity! Iangurteen (talk) 08:56, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
Userbox
[edit]I have created a userbox for Band of Horses fans to put on their user page.
You can find it here. Iangurteen (talk) 15:05, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
Robin Peringer
[edit]A contributer has suggested that this guitarist played on Cease To Begin - I undid this edit as there was no citation. Peringer certainly moves in Band Of Horses circles, having played with Carissa's Wierd and currently being a live member of Mat Brooke's Grand Archives, but I was unaware of a specific link to Band of Horses. There is some evidence he may have guested for Band of Horses. I also found this article but I think it simply mistakes Peringer for Tyler Ramsey who is clearly shown in the photo! Does anyone actually know how far Peringer's link with the band goes? Any good web articles from reputable publications would really help. Iangurteen (talk) 17:41, 17 January 2011 (UTC)
- Following some research, chiefly YouTube videos, I've found that there was a significantly different line up in early 2007, prior to the release of Cease To Begin - I have amended the article to include the arrival of Peringer, Gentling & Monroe and the departure of Arnone. There is still nothng to say Peringer played on Cease To Begin - in fact the sleeve artwork, notes and promo photos of the time indicate he didn't. Still, we've got some new info into the article. Iangurteen (talk) 19:00, 17 January 2011 (UTC)
- Reverted the same edit for a 2nd time. Check the article mentioned in the 1st paragraph of this section. Ben is directly asked who played on Cease to Begin - he replies "four of the six who are here today - excluding Bill Reynolds and Tyler Ramsey" - so that's himself, Monroe, Barrett and Hampton. I think that's fairly conclusive? Iangurteen (talk) 08:39, 19 January 2011 (UTC)
Quality caption writing

Former band members
[edit]I put this paragraph on a user's talk page after they put some unsourced content on Ben Bridwell's wiki-page. I would like it if anyone who is interested in the history of this band could take a look and try to help out...
If you have got any reliable info about why people left Band of Horses, let's get it into the article (although it should be on the wiki-page for the band, not Ben's page) - howevere we need good, reliable sources to use as references. As far as I know, Tim Meinig WAS fired and Chris Early quit because he was Meinig's friend (I got that directly from Chris Early). Mat Brooke definitely WAS NOT fired, he left to do his own thing. Robin Peringer was only a touring band member, I don't know why he left before the recording of "Cease To Begin." Rob Hampton's departure is a mystery as he was a really important band member. He may have been fired, but I've never seen a reliable source to explain his departure. If you have info, put it in the article and use a reference to back it up.
