Query
[edit]Is this in any way related to inn? Finnish wiki tells there were "majatalo" (=inn) before they were mostly replaced by "matkustajakoti" (=boarding house). In Finland, the two offer somewhat similar room rent capability. However, there isn't even a 'see also' -link in this english article. 82.141.119.37 (talk) 11:02, 7 June 2013 (UTC)
- Hi, thanks for the idea. Yes they are related but not strongly enough (particularly in the international anglosphere in which boarding houses have had diverse forms of evolution), and in any case the link is adequately covered in 'see also' by List of human habitation forms which includes inn. An inn is for short-stay travellers and has an alcohol-serving bar area for general public, and a boarding house is for medium-to-long-term stayers and has no public area. I'd love to check out a Finnish "matajalo" one day! Happy travels! SeventhHell (talk) 13:13, 7 June 2013 (UTC)
Forrest Gump
[edit]Where in the popular culture section does Forrest Gump go? Did his mother run a boarding house in the book? I've never read it before. Tyrekecorrea (talk) 17:06, 26 December 2019 (UTC)
