[edit]I'd like to add the picture here: http://www.scc.net/~t-bonham/Technique075.jpg to this page, as an illustration of a breaststrap harness, but I don't know about the public domain part of that. 206.55.180.50 (talk) 11:23, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
- Is it your own photo? If not, you'll have to contact the owner of the copyright to grant a license compatible with use on Wikipedia. --Una Smith (talk) 21:46, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
Does the breaststrap pass through the surcincle? If not, it looks like a polo-style breastplate without its neckstrap. --Una Smith (talk) 01:23, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
merge?
[edit]I suggest merging this article with Breastplate (tack). --Una Smith (talk) 21:46, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
- I considered that when I was writing this, but the Breastplate article was clearly & specifically about riding tack, and covers a clearly different piece of tack, used for a different purpose. So I kept it a separate article. I supposed a link between them would be appropriate. T-bonham (talk) 23:31, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
- Maybe this article should be named Breastplate (harness), with reciprocal links to Breastplate (tack). How is the piece different when used in harness rather than riding? If there is no real difference, then Breastplate (tack) merely reflects the POV (point of view) of the editors who have contributed to that article so far, and you can improve it by adding a different POV.
Does anyone call the harness piece a "breastplate" or "breastcollar"? --Una Smith (talk) 01:20, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
- I have no objection to the merge, but also don't have strong feelings in either direction. This catalogue uses the term "breastcollar," but I'd surf 6-8 ctalogue sites to see if the terminology is consistent. Montanabw(talk) 03:52, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
