The result of the move request was: Not Moved - No clear consensus to move to requested name or alternatively suggested names. Mike Cline (talk) 11:36, 8 September 2022 (UTC)
Bus No. 8 (Bangkok) → Route 8 (Bangkok bus route) – The term "bus number" generally refers to a specific single bus, but this article describes the "route" or "line" as assigned by BMTA/Ministry of Land Transport (which will be renamed to 2-38 per its reform plan). A move to other similar names (that do not mention the "number") instead of this proposed name can be suggested. - Use Route 8 (Bangkok) per WP:CONCISE, unless there is some other Route 8 in Bangkok that is not a bus route. Using Route 8 (Bangkok bus route) would just be redundant. — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ 😼 09:22, 24 August 2022 (UTC)
Weak oppose. Is the potential confusion actually significant? Most news sources use "No. 8".[1][2][3] I'm not necessarily opposed to adopting a standard scheme that reflects an existing pattern, but one that fits WP:NATURALDIS would be better than parenthetical disambiguation. --Paul_012 (talk) 17:25, 24 August 2022 (UTC)- Support Route 8 (Bangkok) per User:SMcCandlish. - Support move to Route 8 (Bangkok bus route). Route 8 (Bangkok) is ambiguous, and isn't a better title than the one proposed by OP. 162 etc. (talk) 18:46, 29 August 2022 (UTC)
- Relisted due to disagreement on whether to add "bus route" to the qualifier. Is there another public transit Route 8 in Bangkok other than this one? — Ceso femmuin mbolgaig mbung, mellohi! (投稿) 21:31, 30 August 2022 (UTC)
- User:Teampawaris previously renamed the article to Bangkok Bus Line 8, which I reverted because reliable sources overwhelmingly use "Bus No. 8" (also, it shouldn't have been capitalised). I still prefer retaining the current title, but failing that, would prefer similar variants that avoid parenthetical disambiguation over the suggested titles.
- To clarify, oppose both Route 8 (Bangkok bus route) and Route 8 (Bangkok). Prefer the following, in decreasing order:
- Retaining the current title (Bus No. 8 (Bangkok)), as the term most commonly used by reliable sources.
- Bangkok bus line 8 or Bangkok bus route 8 (or BMTA line 8 or BMTA route 8 if the name of the system owner is to be preferred). Line appears to be the BMTA's preferred term, though I do think it reads a bit more awkwardly than route.
- Bus route 8 (Bangkok) or Bus line 8 (Bangkok), as "Route 8" alone fails the recognizability criteria.
