[edit]I have just scanned the complete list of inductees into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, and I am surprised at some of the omissions, and even more surprised that the past several years have been solely dedicated to the pop industry. Surely this institution should reflect the complete range of Canadian music from classical to pop/rock, yet the preponderance of inductees certainly does not reflect this. Some notable omissions -- Robert Farnon, considered the leading arranger/composer of light orchestral music in the world; Ed Bickert, the jazz guitarist who stands among the 5 greatest jazz guitarists of all time; Howard Cable, the arranger/composer/conductor who has championed the Canadian heritage through his compositions and arrangements for over 60 years and is still in great demand to guest conduct symphony orhcestras with his own compositions and arrangements; Peter Appleyard, the jazz vibraphonist who played with the Benny Goodman Quartet and is considered on a par with Lionel Hampton and the other famous vibes players of all time. Pop/Rock and Anne Murray have a place indeed, but there is much more to musical fame than contemporary (and temporary) commercial success. Ronnie Hawkins? You've got to be kidding.

- I think you'd have better luck if you voiced your concerns to the Hall of Fame itself. This is an encyclopedia, not a message board (see WP:TALK and WP:NOT).--Lairor (talk) 18:51, 22 September 2008 (UTC)
Birth and Death Dates
[edit]I find the Birth and Death Dates columns confusing for groups. To me, the format of these columns suggest that only the group members listed were inducted, but I'm not sure that would be accurate. For example, I can't find any source stating that the 1987 induction was limited to the American Woman line-up of the Guess Who. Frankly, it would be a mind-boggling decision to leave out Kurt Winter and Greg Leskiw, and I doubt that was the intention of the Hall. Also, I don't think Steven Page should be listed separately from Barenaked Ladies for 2018--he isn't listed as a separate inductee on the Hall's own web site. 104.158.225.146 (talk) 20:10, 23 March 2025 (UTC)
