most authorities say the name "rain frog" was given because Breviceps live in burrows and come out after rain, not because of any superstition about bringing rain.

this article says they are the largest rain frogs, growing up to 45mm long, but Wikipedia articles about other rain frogs give larger sizes. the desert rain frog, for instance, is described as "between 4 and 6 centimetres (1.6 and 2.4 in) long." 2600:1700:4761:1D0:A86C:65C9:4131:DA4D (talk) 10:36, 21 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
