Inappropriate image of dead soldiers?
[edit]I'm not familiar with the guidelines of Wikipedia, but I was very surprised to see a photo of two dead Russian soldiers in this article. I'd expect such content to be inappropriate for Wikipedia, because such visual content can be very disturbing and adds no significant informative value to the article.
Upon reading further I found another disturbing image of a dead civilian. — Preceding unsigned comment added by SireGon (talk • contribs) 01:30, 15 January 2025 (UTC)
Casualties
[edit]A new WSJ report, citing western estimates, says that Russian casualties are ~200,000 killed, 400,000 wounded and "at least" 80,000 Ukrainians killed and 400,000+ wounded.[1] this should be added to the casualties infobox. Maxsmart50 (talk) 14:07, 17 September 2024 (UTC)
- Added the estimate of Ukrainian casualties which the WSJ actually cites to a confidential Ukrainian estimate earlier in the year. As for the western estimates mentioned, they were most likely referring to the very recent UK estimate which put Russian casualties at 610,000 and which is already included in the table. We can add it additionally if other editors want to, but I think it would be redundant since we already include the UK estimate, as well as the Economist one which runs up to 728,000. EkoGraf (talk) 17:25, 17 September 2024 (UTC)
- I think some clarity is needed because none of the numbers add up to 1 million, and the citation is paywalled so you have to pay to verify the accuracy of the comment. Simply adding, according to an undisclosed Ukrainian Source. Then people can decide for themselves the accuracy of the information. Mrobersonf (talk) 07:37, 5 January 2025 (UTC)
- It's perfectly clear as is and I didn't find a mistake. Back to topic, if it helps this is among other sources now also backed up, perhaps slightly more authoritatively, by NATO's Rutte. Well actually he said over a million, but then this is from only a month ago, so really an update. For those lost in the "math" it should go without saying that all of these numbers are by necessity rough (!) estimates (!!), and in the case of Western sources of course baseline. The lower limit! They would for instance not usually consider the many, many thousands of missing or unaccounted for people on both sides, even though it's reasonable those include many more casualties. This hasn't been a question of "thousands" for a long time; we are actually talking about millions. Now some do it also openly. -89.245.22.11 (talk) 07:13, 24 January 2025 (UTC)

Alexander Kulyk
[edit]Can someone please add him? Ukrainian former national cycling coach Alexander Kulyk died on 1 March 2022 in a mission evacuating people from Kyiv.[2][3]

North Korea as foreign fighters
[edit]Should North Korean wounded/captured go under the Foreign Fighters section? I'm not sure what defines a foreign fighter in this context considering North Korea sent troops officially. ExiaMesa (talk) 02:48, 12 January 2025 (UTC)
- The subject of the foreign fighters section are foreign volunteers and mercenaries fighting in the ranks of the Russian and Ukrainian militaries. The North Korean soldiers in the conflict are in their official capacity as North Korean soldiers (just like Russian or Ukrainian soldiers). EkoGraf (talk) 19:34, 12 January 2025 (UTC)
- Got it, thanks! ExiaMesa (talk) 00:12, 13 January 2025 (UTC)

Bulgarian casualty Cvetomir Getov (extended confirmed edit request)
[edit]Could someone with sufficient user privileges add one Bulgarian casualty on the side of Donetsk PR forces? His name is Cvetomir Getov (Bulgarian: Цветомир Гетов) and he died on 25.02.2023. Below are references from myrotvorets, poteru.net and from dir.bg (a Bulgarian news site.)
