[edit]Claims that its is public right of way are wrong. There is no such law in Scotland. See Rights of way in Scotland. --JBellis (talk) 19:35, 5 March 2009 (UTC)
Pylon Photos?
[edit]Anyone got a photo of the pylons to show their contact with the wilderness of the area. I think I skipped that on my sole visit. I do have one of the "danger" sign on the northern side which I should put up SteveLoughran (talk) 10:39, 11 August 2024 (UTC)
Distances
[edit]The distance from the watershed to Allt Lagan a' Bhainne, given as 1.5 km or 0.9 miles, is obviously wrong. Looking at the OS map it seems to be more like 3.5 km. I suspect a transcription error (distance of the preceding section repeated in error), however the link is broken so I can't check. 2A00:23C6:EE18:D101:C1DF:A618:8271:7D9D (talk) 17:23, 14 October 2024 (UTC)
- Many thanks, fixed, surely just such a typo. Chiswick Chap (talk) 18:11, 14 October 2024 (UTC)
- I think so. Bear in mind my estimate is only rough, by eye from the OS. With that estimate, the distance from Melgarve to Culachy comes to 16 km. However, the leaflet linked to on the archive.org link gives the distance from Melgarve to Fort Augustus as 22 km, and the distance from Culachy to Fort Augustus doesn't look like more than 2.5 km to me, so it doesn't quite compute. Either we're missing about another 3.5 km somewhere, or the leaflet is an overestimate. But I can't see the watershed to the Allt Lagan a' Bhainne as more than 4 to 4.5 km at the absolute outside. It's a pity all the links to Historic Environment Scotland are broken. Somebody needs to go up there on a mountain bike and measure it. 2A00:23C6:EE18:D101:C1DF:A618:8271:7D9D (talk) 18:29, 14 October 2024 (UTC)
- Indeed. Chiswick Chap (talk) 18:38, 14 October 2024 (UTC)
- That would probably be disallowed as "original research"! 2A00:23C6:EE18:D101:C41C:3485:D59A:5B93 (talk) 19:56, 15 October 2024 (UTC)
