  • Citation for Annual Revenue

    [edit]

There is no citation given for the source, for the Annual Revenue stated in the article. Precambrian84 (talk) 05:28, 4 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think your edits were doing what you were after. I have reverted and added an unreferenced tag. For future reference, the tag you were after is {{cn}}, the citation needed tag. Cheers, Mattinbgn\talk 05:40, 4 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
    Thanks. Corrected Precambrian84 (talk) 05:51, 4 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I now have a copy of the 2007-08 Cricket Australia Annual Report in my hot little hand (not on hand, but available on request from CA). I should have asked for the financial statements as the financial information in the AR is condensed but the highlights are:

    • Income from continuing operations: $142,841,510
    • Surplus before distributions to State Associations $ 65,774,985
    • Surplus after distributions $ 24,229,564
    • Total assets $128,780,929
    • Cash and Cash equivalents $ 71,394,032
    • Members funds (equity) $ 41,105,587

The largest liability is "Revenue received in advance" valued at over $45m with no further details available in this report.

Other (non-financial) items of interest are:

    • Male participation grew by 4.8% and female by 11.8%
    • Twenty20 has "TM" (trademark) after every mention

    Hope this is useful. -- Mattinbgn\talk 08:06, 14 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

    [edit]

I was just running Wikipedia Cleaner over the Cricket Australia article trying to clean up links to dab pages. Found a problem with several in that they link to pages but I can't find the person that fits on the disambiguation page. That's the trouble with having a sea of red links waiting for articles to be created. Someone creates an article with that name and you wind up with a link to the wrong person and then when someone creates a dab page and the persons still not on it but the article has an active link. I'd suggest getting rid of all these red links. Just delinking them for now, unless any editors know of specific pages that apply. Active links to dab pages with no page listed for person so linked here are: Alan Barnes (New South Wales), David Richards (Victoria), Jack Clark (under board of directors), James Allen (Queensland) and John Gibson (New South Wales). they should really be delinked along with all the red links, but again if someone knows if they have an article under a different name variation then go ahead and link to them. Bill Lawry and his offensive comment

    [edit]

I'm not sure this is the right place to ask, but I'll try here. Back in the 80s, or even earlier, a commentator got into a lot of hot water for describing an Aussie fielder as "running like a girl", and eventually apologised for causing any offence, but only after defending his comments for some time. I remember it very clearly because I was watching the broadcast when it happened. The papers and TV were full of comment about it, and feminist and other groups had a lot to say about it. I am sure it was Bill Lawry, but I can't find any reference to it on either his page or on a google search. Can anyone help me track this incident down? -- JackofOz (talk) 22:28, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The image File:Australia-Cricket.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

    • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
    • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

Could i add a list of grounds?

    [edit]

Should a list of grounds in Australia be added? Instead of making a new page? Aaroncrick (Tassie Talk) 02:11, 23 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

    Controversies?

    [edit]

Any Wiki-rules against the inclusion of criticism of the board related to John the bookmaker controversy, or is it just too trivial for this article?

I was going to add it but I thought I better ask first than getting reverted later. —SpaceFlight89 (talk) 15:50, 25 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This article is on my mental "to do" list, although I doubt I will get there time soon). Certainly, "John the Bookmaker" will get a run in it, as well as the Big Six cricket dispute of 1912, Bodyline, World Series Cricket, various throwing controversies from the past 100 years, etc. etc. I would day go ahead and add it; it will look like WP:UNDUE at first but the rest of the article can fit around it. -- Mattinbgn\talk 23:47, 25 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

    Withdrew from competition in 2021

    [edit]

This is phrased as if the defeat to India was the reason that the Australian team ceased to play, not the strict border policies introduced by the Australian government on travel due to the Coronavirus epidemic. While technically correct, am I the only one who sees this as misleading?

    You're quite right. I've had a go at a rewording. See what you think. HiLo48 (talk) 10:57, 5 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That looks pretty good to me, thanks for fixing that up. 124.170.173.89 (talk) 11:27, 5 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
