Merge with Sindhi cuisine

[edit]

Why does each city have it's own cuisine? Karachi is a part of Sindh and Sindh has a cultural cuisine. Should we also start a "Cuisine of Hyderabad" article as well?--Nadirali نادرالی (talk) 07:22, 31 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Agree, merge.--Kintetsubuffalo (talk) 07:17, 19 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
A merge wouldn't be feasible, as the majority of Karachi's population are Muhajirs whose food differs significantly from that of ethnic Sindhi cuisine. I believe Karachi, being a huge city of 20+ million, is notable enough to have its own cuisine article and we do have a large number of mainstream sources which cover the city's food culture. The cuisine of Karachi is significantly different from the Sindhi cuisine and the merge would not be feasible. The cuisine of Karachi is closer to the Mughlai cuisine than to the Sindhi cuisine. The dishes, recipes and the ingredients are different in these cuisines. Centaur17 (talk) 01:47, 9 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
To editor Mar4d: point taken. I suggest re-titling it Muhajir cuisine. Karachi consists of various ethnicities, so the current title is a bit misleading.--NadirAli نادر علی (talk) 03:44, 11 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Karachi cuisine would be better than Muhajir cuisine in my opinion, due to the city being home to various ethnicities. That way we can cover the entire city's cuisine and food culture, as opposed to Muhajir cuisine which would narrow done the scope IMO. Also, Muhajir cuisine has more or less become synonymous with Karachi anyway, so having the title in terms of location is better and aligns with other articles on city cuisines eg. Hyderabadi cuisine. Regards, Mar4d (talk) 04:28, 11 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

hyderabad influence

[edit]

hyderabad influence is minimum, yes haleem, yes falooda, yes biryani, rest is prefered by hyderababi community alone, we also have sindhi biryani, UP biryani etc, hyderabadi influence is just as much as any other regional influence of india and pakistan. what about bengali sweets, rabri which is rajasthani, nihari which is not hyderabadi at all, what about karachi innovations like lab e shireen, paratha roll, nali biryani, what about karahi which seems to be from peshawar. 202.188.53.210 (talk) 02:14, 22 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
