[edit]

In the last few weeks there has been several flip-flops of how the company name appears in the first sentence. Rather than continue with this mess, we must come to a consensus on how the first sentence should appear.

Over the last few weeks, the name of the company in the first sentence has 43 times:

In the infobox, the "name" field has also changed a similar amount of times. Other contentious infobox fields that keep changing are the company logo, the "traded as" field, the "former name" field, and the "successor" field.

Instead of continuing these shenanigans, can we please have a discussion and come to a consensus about how exactly the first sentence of this article should be worded, as well as what exactly should appear in the infobox fields. RachelTensions (talk) 22:14, 10 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Support: First sentence should mention JioStar, registered as Star India Pvt Ltd, as this is the current name. The solution can be the that the page of JioStar should have current version and Disney Star page should have older version of September, with some corrections, if required. Or Disney Star page can be removed and redirect to JioStar page as the company was always Star India Private Limited, Disney branded it as Disney Star, but it's registered name remained Star India, now assets of Viacom18 have been merged into the same company, Star India. And the new leadership has branded Star India as JioStar. Indedits (talk) 03:51, 11 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose ANY name change whatsoever as consensus has already made the determination of how the title should be in the first sentence. Let me know if I should clarify further. --CNMall41 (talk) 19:36, 11 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Where/how do you propose the corporate entity now apparently known as "JioStar" be included, and at what location? Do you think this article should be solely on Disney Star, with the JioStar joint venture being spun off into its own article? RachelTensions (talk) 21:31, 11 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It already is included in the history section. Maybe once SOCKs, UPEs and others stop attempting to rebrand the company on its behalf, I will be of mind to opine further. Until then, consensus has been made so my opinion is irrelevant. --CNMall41 (talk) 01:05, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Move discussion in progress

[edit]

There is a move discussion in progress on Talk:Star Life (Latin American TV channel) which affects this page. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. —RMCD bot 22:38, 17 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 27 January 2025

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: not moved. Consensus is not to move at this time, possibility for starting a new draft article was presented, and the comment by the nom is almost an informal withdrawal. Regardless clear consensus against move. (closed by non-admin page mover) TiggerJay(talk) 23:35, 3 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Disney StarJioStar – JioStar is a JV between Reliance Jio and Disney Star, so a new article should be created for JioStar instead of merging it with Disney Star Laser Victor 2017 ❯❯❯ 💬talk 20:50, 27 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment - Preserve Disney Star & Viacom18 articles and create a new separate article for JioStar.

  • Comment:

Not a bad idea, but again you can create a seperate article for the Joint venture, but I do prefer this one.. 2409:4060:2E9B:A57C:A0F3:EEC0:B448:B4CC (talk) 13:08, 1 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

There is no point opening a same discussion so close to the last. Try again at least 3-6 months later. – robertsky (talk) 09:47, 14 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Disney StarJioStar – The conglomerate in 2024 underwent merger and renamed itself as JioStar as seen on their website and other sources as well - https://www.jiostar.com/ and https://www.gadgets360.com/entertainment/news/jiohotstar-launch-platform-teaser-jiostar-viacom18-star-india-hotstar-7700824 Earthismyworld (talk) 08:16, 14 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Going forward

[edit]

CNMall41, RachelTensions, United Blasters TemaGub2002 and Robertsky, at the end of all the edit fights, conflicts and disagreements, this page is still named "Disney Star"! The section of the histories of this company and Viacom 18 from 2023 to date could be copied and given attribution to the "JioStar" draft (which was created by TemaGub2002; I could've created the draft earlier myself if not for PC and internet unavailabilty in my area). This page reads more as a RECENTISM towards JioStar than the historic Star TV India/Star India pre-2023. Robertsky, could it be possible to protect this page to ward off vandals, socks, UPE editors and IPs from intruding on this article, at least till the JioStar draft is published? Intrisit (talk) 21:08, 14 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

You can always request page protection at WP:RPP. As far as any name change, there needs to be consensus which after all of the bludgeoning above still has not resulted in any other than keeping the name Disney Star. --CNMall41 (talk) 03:52, 17 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think there needs to be a separate article for JioStar, it is the same company as Disney Star. Viacom18 still exists too. Content on this page about JioStar can certainly be reduced. Arnav Bhate (talkcontribs) 16:40, 18 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
