The dance
[edit]There is also a dance called the Bart Simpson, that originated in Atlanta, where dancers developed that step from what Bart Simpson did in "Do The Bartman". Michael Jackson himself uses the step in the video of "Remember the Time" in the end when he sings "I Bet You Remember". The routine was made by Buddha Stretch, just to let you know. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.122.15.102 (talk) 20:37, 13 August 2009 (UTC)
Lyrics
[edit]I posted the lyrics, however someone removed them due to copyright problems.
If I repost the lyrics with its source, is that ok?
Could someone please explain to me all the steps to follow, so I don't commit any more copyright infringement.--Misantropo 17:49, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
- No problem. Wikipedia tends to shy away from posting the lyrics to any songs, regardless of whether or not a source is posted. Content posted to Wikipedia is has to be compliant with the GFDL and most song lyrics are not, as the authors of said songs retain their copyrights so people do not rip off their lyrics. It is, however, perfectly fine (I think anyway) to post a link to another page that has the lyrics. Its basically just a way to respect the copyrights of others and to week Wikipedia out of any legal tangles. I hope this helps. youngamerican (ahoy-hoy) 20:09, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
Michael Jackson
[edit]Somebody rewroted the article to state that Michael Jackson didn't do anything on this track. As long as you don't have a source saying the Michael Jackson specifically didn't do it, I will keep this information out of the article. Matt Groening said that Michael Jackson did it and I can't think out of reason why he would lie about this now. --Maitch 15:37, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
Someone better change the writer's credit for the single on this page, then.

Is there a source we could cite for the claim that Jackson co-wrote the song? And/or is there any way to clarify how and why his record label prevented him from getting a songwriting credit? Timothy Horrigan (talk) 11:25, 25 August 2009 (UTC)
According to MBW, Bryan Loren has stated that Michael Jackson sung the backing vocals, but he was not involved as a writer. Stevoisiak (talk) 20:34, 21 November 2022 (UTC)

OK. The article seems a gross violations of MOS on a large scale. I did not even move beyond the lead that I found them.
- Online sources are not supposed to be italicized.
- Done I've removed the italics from The Daily Vault in the reception section. Crystal Clear x3 [talk] 12:55, 17 March 2010 (UTC)

- Unsourced sales.
- Done I've sourced the sales of the single from the United Kingdom's BPI. Crystal Clear x3 [talk] 12:00, 17 March 2010 (UTC)

- A number of repeated references, especially 28-36.
- I believe that I've corrected this problem, can you check to make sure I fixed all the references? Thanks Crystal Clear x3 [talk] 12:40, 17 March 2010 (UTC)
- Not yet. You need to replace all the Hung Medien references with a single one as it's the same content repeated in all of them. --Legolas (talk2me) 04:24, 18 March 2010 (UTC)

- A number of times procession is added, however, bigger markets like Australia and Norway are left for no reason. Why?
- I have not been able to locate all of the songs chart procession and succession in countries where it peaked at number one, so I've instead removed the section altogether. Crystal Clear x3 [talk] 11:51, 17 March 2010 (UTC)

- "Do The Bartman" sold half a million copies and was certified gold by the British Phonographic Industry on February 1, 1991." – This is so wrong. The BPI doesnot certify on sales, it certifies on shipments. And BPI gold certification is for 400K copies.
- There is a case of huge WP:OVERLINK happening. One example, ref no 8. You are citing it to BBC News while formatting as BBC.co.uk which is wrong. Same with EW.com, News.BBC.co.uk, BPI.co.uk etc etc.
- Done I believe I've corrected this problem, if I missed any references please let me know. Thanks, Crystal Clear x3 [talk] 12:38, 17 March 2010 (UTC)

- Done I corrected the problem, but I left ref. 19 because it sources the songs weeks at number one in that country. Crystal Clear x3 [talk] 04:48, 18 March 2010 (UTC)

Jackson lyricist
[edit]Jackson should probably not be stated that he contributed to lyrics in the lead. Bryan states "I am the sole writer of the song" and only suggets Jackson came up with the title, but not anything lyrically. If he was able to sell the song, the Jackson lyrics are misleading in the lead. Please do not add them anymore without specific proof from the Jackson side of things.
