Juilliard School
[edit]Does anyone know whether she studied music or drama at Juilliard? I categorised her in the "non-musicians alumi" category of Category:Juilliard School alumni, but if she in fact studied music, feel free to change this to Category:Juilliard School of Music alumni. Thanks, Bencherlite 15:41, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
== Edie aspired to become an opera singer and studied voice and piano at New York's Juilliard School of Music. She earned a vocal degree. SweeJeep (talk) 20:30, 10 June 2019 (UTC)
Politics
[edit]Adams is called a Republican. A magazine is cited, which says she campaigned for Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1956. I have no reason to doubt that. But she also campaigned for Hubert Humphrey in 1968, and pictures of them together are easy to find with a Google search. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.143.202.206 (talk) 01:40, 7 December 2018 (UTC)
Per her son, Josh Mills, thru many posts on Facebook, Edie was a Democrat. — Preceding unsigned comment added by SweeJeep (talk • contribs) 20:32, 10 June 2019 (UTC)
And from her own memoir: "I was and remain a notoriously liberal Democrat, but not where Senator [Jacob] Javits was concerned. He was a special kind of Republican. I felt the same way about Nelson Rockefeller and later campaigned for him." So I'll be changing what the article says on this. - Jmabel | Talk 22:47, 3 August 2023 (UTC)

Memoir
[edit]I notice I'm the first one here to cite anything from her memoir, and that there is in fact no mention in the article text of her even having written one. This seems an odd omission. I may get back to this, if no one beats me to it. - Jmabel | Talk 23:05, 3 August 2023 (UTC)
Started on this. I see that in the article we currently have a statement, "Initially, Adams could not decide whether to pursue a career in fashion design or music, so she tossed a coin, and music won," in what reads to me like a very light story in The Sumter Daily Item, a small-town newspaper in South Carolina. Her memoir says nothing of the sort, it simply says that she was aware that her fashion design/seamstress skills would have presented her another possible career path if she hadn't been able to make it as a singer. I'm very inclined to remove this (in my opinion) weakly sourced statement about her inclinations and instead follow her own narrative. Yes, independent third-party sources are usually preferred, but not so much when it comes to something that (if accurate) could only have come from her, anyway. - Jmabel | Talk 02:29, 6 August 2023 (UTC)
- Seeing no response after a few days, I'll go ahead with this. - Jmabel | Talk 18:34, 9 August 2023 (UTC)
Recordings
[edit]There are filmography and a television listings, but only one mention in the article of recordings. She did quite a bit of recording work which should be in the article. Wastrel Way (talk) Eric Wastrel Way (talk) 01:17, 13 September 2023 (UTC)
