[edit]Dear Psychonaut,
I am sorry if I have hurt your feelings by deleting the reference to your Mr. Hardcastle (I did it again...), but I am afraid that - whatever your political preferences may be - he is only prominent within the limits of a very small, and presumably rather sectarian, universe. The reason that a simple reference to the article on Mr. Hardcastle is totally inappropriate here, is that the article referred to includes totally irrelevant opinions about prof. Cannan ("his old professor, Cannan. Edwin Cannan, a largely forgotten bourgeois economist of the first part of this century") that are not exactly shared by the overwhelming majority of the history of economics community (I am trying to be diplomatic here). Therefore insisting on putting in this link without any further information or qualification constitutes vandalism IMHO. You may consider inserting a line in the text instead that places this link into more context, something like "One of his students was later trade-union and SPGB activist Hardcastle". However, even in this case I would suggest that you would look a bit further to see if you could make a more balanced list of those who have benefited from the instruction of prof. Cannan. No offence intended, just want to keep things in proportion. Whatever our political views may be, in writing these articles we should try to refrain from political activism. - Fair enough. I wasn't trying to advance any political agenda, but rather to provide links to related economists; Hardcastle is the only one I know of on Wikipedia. I do have an affiliation with the SPGB but Hardcastle was far before my time. Anything you can do to fix any POV problems in the Hardcastle article would be much appreciated; there are numerous non-SPGB sources on him, but I had access to only two. —Psychonaut 00:49, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
Hello Psychonaut, Thank you for your reaction. If I manage to dig up some other LSE students of Cannan - may take a couple of weeks mind you, have a job etc. - I can add a sentence, and include Mr. Hardcastle. OK? Cheers,Robertsch55 00:22, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
