T-Minus-two MONTHS and counting
[edit]AS this is October 2nd and the thing is supposed to launch in mid-December, doesn't anyone think that this article should be given a good thorough revision?Ericl (talk) 14:26, 2 October 2014 (UTC)
Reentry conditions
[edit]'Flight' section says "or 64% of the energy dissipated upon reentry from a moon mission" but this does not seem to be supported by either source. One source says the 4000F reentry temperature is 80% of that from a lunar mission. (Not clear that the 80% is of the Kelvin temp) - Looks like the 64% energy is OR based possible on squaring 80% - ignoring larger mass of Orion. I have moved the refs to before the 64%. It would be great to compare rentry velocities, and capsule kinetic+potential energy of Orion EFT1 and Apollo lunar missions. - Rod57 (talk) 23:46, 6 December 2014 (UTC)
- Source above in Untitled says "returning home at a speed almost 5,000 miles per hour faster than that endured by the Space Shuttle orbiters." - Rod57 (talk) 11:52, 4 September 2021 (UTC)
What happened to the capsule after recovery
[edit]What happened to the EFT-1 capsule after recovery ? Where did it go ? Will it or any parts be used for later capsules and flights ? - Rod57 (talk) 14:06, 7 January 2020 (UTC)
Results eg heat shield
[edit]What were the results from the test ? What worked, what didn't ? I heard somewhere that the heatshield design was being changed after this test. - Rod57 (talk) 11:46, 4 September 2021 (UTC)
What about the service module
[edit]EFT-1 included a non-functional mass simulator in place of the service module. Who made it ? What were the masses of the capsule, and service-module-shaped-ballast ? Was the capsule mass close to the mass planned for the launches on SLS, eg EM-1 ? - Rod57 (talk) 12:04, 4 September 2021 (UTC)
How was the capsule powered ?
[edit]Later flights would get power from the service module. How did the EFT-1 capsule get power (batteries, fuel-cells, or solar panels) ? - Rod57 (talk) 12:08, 4 September 2021 (UTC)
