Protestant adoption
[edit]This is pretty disappointing as far as history of Protestant observances. The 19c Anglican feast was still on Aug. 6, to go by Burgess & Palmer's Plainchant Gradual. I suspect though that the last Sunday of Epiphany feast predates 1971 and the widespread adoption of the 3-year Revised Common Lectionary's predecessors. Confusingly The Lutheran Hymnal (St. Louis, 1941) assigns The Transfiguration of Our Lord to the last Sunday of Epiphany, but also includes Septuagesima and Sexagesima, apparently belonging to Shrovetide and not included in the Epiphany season, Sparafucil (talk) 02:35, 4 January 2014 (UTC)
