Reversion of undiscussed move
[edit]At WP:RM, I requested the reversion of the recent undiscussed move to the neologistic title "Filipino Israelis". This title "Filipino Israelis" fails four out of five limbs of the WP:NAMINGCRITERIA:
- It is not recognisable: it could be easily confused with the opposite meaning of "Israelis in the Philippines" (c.f. Iranian Kazakhs, Malaysian Chinese, Burmese Indians, British Moroccans) or dual citizens of the Philippines & Israel who live in Australia or some other meaning, whereas "Filipinos in Israel" is very clear what it means.
- It is not natural: natural titles "usually convey what the subject is actually called in English" (i.e. WP:COMMONNAME), but in fact this population is virtually never called "Filipino Israelis" in reliable sources: (Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL).
- It is not precise: as this article itself points out, the vast majority of this population are not Israelis as in Israeli citizens; they are foreign workers living temporarily in Israel
- It is not consistent with other related articles: no other articles about foreign or indigenous populations in Israel use the "Fooian Israelis" format, and similarly the vast majority of articles about Filipino diaspora populations do not use the "Filipino Fooians" format either.
For future moves of articles in this topic area, please use the WP:RM system as such moves are likely to be controversial (for recent examples, see Talk:Romani people in Croatia.) 61.10.165.33 (talk) 02:00, 2 February 2014 (UTC)
