I made significant additions to the biography, created a section for honors and awards, and updated reference links and the infobox. Also updated that she is no longer living. Upgraded article to a Start class from a Stub across all WikiProjects. Could use additional references and still needs a photo, but I am having trouble finding one with the proper license. I removed the information in the lede "(born 1927) was an economist, and the first African American woman to be elected president of one of Texas's "first class" public institutions of higher education, Prairie View A&M University".[1] which is is questionable.
I cannot find another reference to her being the the first African American woman to be elected president of Prairie View A&M University. The statement also contradicts the information on Ruth Simmons wiki article. Because the statement of her presidency is questionable, I also removed the DoB which used the same source. I also changed "economist" to "home economist". I am pinging the author @LizBajjalieh: and suggest reviewing the PVAMU bioWomenArtistUpdates (talk) 23:15, 7 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
