Keeping it separate from the commercial campaign
[edit]I have a connection to the people that run this, so I'm not editing much now that it's moved to mainspace. However, I fixed a spelling mistake, and I remove the following:
- During its first year, the public reaction towards the event was not very enthusiastic.<ref name="reaction" />
That article focuses on a promotional campaign by a cashback company, which has nothing to do with the official event (other than taking advantage of it for publicity). So I figured it would be uncontroversial to remove it.
Any other use of the same reference - Would you take free money from a stranger? - should be checked to make sure it's actually about Free Money Day itself. --Chriswaterguy talk 07:57, 22 October 2014 (UTC)
Fastcoexist article, and support from Stephen Fry, Vicki Robin and Noam Chomsky
[edit]As I mentioned above, I have a connection to the organisers, so sharing this here rather than editing the page.
New piece in the media: http://www.fastcoexist.com/3035658/start-a-conversation-about-money-by-giving-it-away-to-strangers (Fastcoexist is a Fast Company site.)
Not sure if this is appropriate for inclusion: The event has received support from a number of high profile figures, including Stephen Fry, Vicki Robin and Noam Chomsky (references: https://twitter.com/stephenfry/status/245528795392638976 and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jwtQ3HQUVr4). --Chriswaterguy talk 07:57, 22 October 2014 (UTC)
Is this still active?
[edit]As of today, their website hasn't been updated in a year (plus, the map of activities is broken) and their Twitter feed only has three tweets this year, so it seems like it's not really thing anymore. —howcheng {chat} 05:30, 15 September 2018 (UTC)
