New version created by Scorpiuss
[edit]I've created a new version of the GPT page. The fundamentals are all there. Could use a chart of the things represented at each bit position. Microsoft's got a nice one on the external link indicated (which, by the way, is a great source).

EFI System partition GUID contradiction
[edit]The GUID for an EFISys partition under the Partition Entries section is different than the one in the list of GUIDs. On the MS page linked at the bottom, the one given in the Partition Entries section is given.

My explanation of an edit to the article was cut off -
[edit]The CRC field (offset 0x10) was wrong - it said to calculate the CRC over bytes 0 to 5C, when it should be 0 to 5B, because the total length is 5C (the usual contents of the previous field at offset 0x0C), so since you start counting from 0, the last byte is 0x5B. I've verified this by actually doing the calculation for several valid EFI headers. While I was typing the explanation, I must have hit enter and it instantly published it and cut off my explanation. I don't know how to fix the explanation, but the change to the article is valid.
I suggest not making it so easy to publish an edit just by hitting the wrong key. How about an "are you sure" popup? Davexvi (talk) 01:59, 4 March 2025 (UTC)
