In 2021, General Dynamics U.S. workforce was 21% veterans, 23% female, and 27% people of color. The US Department of Labor awarded the company the 2021 HIRE Vets Gold Award.[69]

The company has 26 Employee Resource Groups serving 10 employee segments.[70]

Approximately 20% of the company's employees are represented by labor unions such as International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM), The International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace, and Agricultural Implement Workers of America (UAW).[71]

Independent research published by American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD), U.S. Department of Labor, Military Times, U.S. Veterans Magazine, Professional Women's Magazine, Forbes, and Fortune Magazine selected General Dynamics as a top employer. [72]

General Dynamics' community contributions in 2021 were 70% in Education & Social Services, 18% in Arts & Culture, and 12% in Service Member Support.[73]

The tables have the same information as the current section; I just cleaned up the formatting. @BilCat we have Category:Companies involved in the Holocaust - which is also about companies involved in Jewish genocide. Similar list of Category:Companies involved in the Gaza genocide and General Dynamics addition to said list is also justified based on their involvement and executives statement. That is something heavily discussed in Gaza genocide and not a subject of debate here. Community has changed the article name to Gaza genocide and since then refused to change the name back to alleged Gaza genocide. Category name is based on the main article name and contents there. You can take it up to Gaza genocide to debate non-neutrality of the article name. This are formed intense debate and consensus building. I will not be debating that here. I'll re-add the category. Two editors is supporting the addition of the category. So far - you are the only one objecting and you haven't made a good case - other that accusation and bold statements - saying no companies should be on that list. @BilCat I think you're misunderstanding the point of NPOV. A significant amount of RS call it a genocide so it would be non-neutral to say that it's definitely not a genocide. NPOV is about having a balanced standpoint based on the available sources and many academic sources and NGOs call it a genocide which probably led to the page name Gaza genocide.
There are also many sources that deny the Armenian genocide but it's still considered a genocide so it's not universally recognized as a genocide but we still call it that on Wikipedia. Laura240406 (talk) 23:34, 14 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Getting back to the category, the problem is that this isn't supported by policy. WP:POVCAT states categories should be Neutral. Categorizations should generally be uncontroversial; if the category's topic is likely to spark controversy, then a list article (which can be annotated and referenced) is probably more appropriate. This is clearly a controversial category -- "involved in" is a vague, indefinite term, and there's significant disagreement and controversy over whether genocide is an accurate term. WP:CATDEF states that categories should be Defining. Defining characteristics of an article's topic are central to categorizing the article. A defining characteristic is one that reliable sources commonly and consistently refer to[1] in describing the topic, such as the nationality of a person or the geographic location of a place. Involvement in the Gaza genocide is not a defining characteristic of General Dynamics. Non-defining characteristics are generally to be avoided, as they lead to overcategorization. In cases where a particular attribute about a topic is verifiable and notable but not defining, or where doubt exists, creation of a list is often the preferred alternative. This is precisely such a case -- a list article can be sourced and nuance can be added around what "involved in" or "genocide" means and the level of agreement/conflict over those terms can be fleshed out; this cannot be done in a category, which is why we discourage it.⇒SWATJester Shoot Blues, Tell VileRat! 00:48, 15 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
