Weight of Sheet Ice Affecting Geography

The claim that "the weight of the ice sheet has depressed the central land area to form a basin lying more than 300 m (980 ft) below sea level" seems to be spurious and is not supported by the more current source provided. The DK Atlas cited does mention this claim but is contradicted by the article on the Grand_Canyon_(Greenland) page, which mentions that the canyon is believed to predate the ice sheet and is corroborated by more current sources. I believe this sentence should be removed and a section should be added discussing Greenland's Grand Canyon in its place. Struckweather (talk) 15:38, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

GeoScienceWorld journal which ABC News then wrote about which should be enough to pass the WP guidelines.

Not done: The citation for the "North American autonomous territory of [..] Denmark" is from Denmark's official government website. After a quick search, this doesn't seem disputed - but if there are reliable sources that support the alternate descriptor, please provide them. FifthFive (talk) 00:26, 26 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Undue weight about Norse disappearance

Why is this extremely detailed text in a general article about Greenland? It belongs in the specific article about the history of the Norse Greenlanders.

"Other explanations of the disappearance of the Norse settlements have been proposed: Lack of support from the homeland. Ship-borne marauders (such as Basque, English, or German pirates) rather than Skrælings, could have plundered and displaced the Greenlanders. They were "the victims of hidebound thinking and of a hierarchical society dominated by the Church and the biggest land owners. In their reluctance to see themselves as anything but Europeans, the Greenlanders failed to adopt the kind of apparel that the Inuit employed as protection against the cold and damp or to borrow any of the Inuit hunting gear." That portion of the Greenlander population willing to adopt Inuit ways and means intermarried with and assimilated into the Inuit community. Much of the Greenland population is mixed Inuit and European ancestry. It was impossible in 1938 when Stefansson wrote his book to distinguish between intermarriage before the European loss of contact and after the contact was restored. "Norse society's structure created a conflict between the short-term interests of those in power, and the long-term interests of the society as a whole."" Donald Trump

On 8 January Trump said he could not guarantee that economic or military coercion would not be needed to take over the territory.^[1]^[2] His son Donald Trump was visiting the territory at the time.^[3] I'd suggest that this is quite a significant departure from just offering to buy it, and has attracted widescale negative reaction.
